The
Christmas concert at Kirby Twins Acoustic Club in the packed
village hall in Kirby Bellars, Leicestershire is like a
homecoming concert for Govannen. The hall was full of 100
fans - mostly all local friends.
The Govannen sound had been strengthened by the addition
of Neil Rabjohn on cajon drum and a recording was taken
by the band to hear how things sounded. The holiday season
added a couple of Christmas touches, but also gave them
the opportunity to play a couple of popular songs, take
some requests, and stretch out a few arrangements of traditional
tunes.
A fun album and a record of a great night with the band
on top form.

trivia
Th
album's curious title is taken from Chris's misspoken announcement
of the piece Saddle The Pony. The band often comment that
the name of the horse on the album cover is Sniff.
Celtic Suite started as a solo violin air by Adele -
what followed was a string of tunes and improvisated magic
from Govannen.
Tequila is a running gag by the band as Christo often adds
it to various songs wherever he can. At party functions
the band now play it straight as part of it's regular set.
