The Scanner Game
A complete 47minute improvisation for 8 musicians.
The sound is big, dark, but never threatening, although on occasions the tumults and crescendos do reach quite ecstatic highs.

background
We used to hold Improv Electronic events at The Musician, Leicester - The Planet Scanners and Endgame would each do a 30min set - then we'd do an hour together = Scanner Game. This album features one of those complete improvisations.

Amazingly, virtually all the instruments make their mark and have their say, with melody riding against dissonance, and a great sense of space throughout. If you thought the free live improvisation just meant a random noise, this fine balance of music and weirdness may well make you think again!

influences
Vidna Obmana, Eduard Artemiev, Robert Rich, Lydia Kavina, Terje Rypdal, Simon Stockhausen, Bernard Xolotl, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Wendy Carlos

trivia
Recorded digitally live at The Musician, Leicester. Edit and mixed at the Tachyon Studios.

The titles were taken randomly from whichever sci-fi book Chris Conway was reading at the time - which book it was has been forgotten
