Lost Solo Live Recording Found!
27th of February 2009, Chris played his last solo songs concert at Leicester's flagship acoustic stage at the Phoenix Arts Centre. No keyboards, no theremins - just voice, guitars with a little whistles & kalimba.

Ten Years, Is It Really Ten Years?
The Phoenix Arts, Leicester was a prestigious place to play, especially for local musicians. For a start you got in the art centre’s upcoming 3 month programme. The Saturday foyer folk & Sunday jazz were a big thing.
27th February 2009 was my last solo songs concert there. I was building myself up to my big 20th Anniversary In Music concert later in the year, trying out old songs I hadn’t played in a while. I started this concert singing a song each from my songs albums chronologically (tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 7). Future Beige was the new song and wasn’t released til 2011. When I released that 20th Anniversary concert as Live & Peace & Outer Space and the In Concert DVD, I felt there was no need to release this Phoenix concert.
Time passed and I forgot all about it, until now - the year of my 30th Anniversary In Music! So it seemed a nice idea to bring it out now. There isn’t a live recording of 5 of these songs, and I don’t have a live songs album with me just based around the guitar. There are songs here from 9 different studio albums!
The Phoenix closed in June of that year - I played a farewell Sunday jazz gig and a couple of songs at a Saturday Folk farewell. But for me and my solo songs concerts, this was The Last Phoenix.

The little 6 string Baby Taylor guitar I bought to play at Marcon Media Convention in Columbus Ohio later in the year, because it would fit in an overhead locker on the plane.

From my 1996 2nd solo songs album Flying Home, inspired no doubt by Captian Picard's regular line on Star Trek The Next Generation, "Make it so!" which I put in the song.

A song from The Storm Thieves' 1993 Up To The Sun album and also on my 1997 3rd solo songs album Storming album. One of my earliest songs of mine to be released.

Age Of Miracles
From the 2000 Earth Rising album - on th estudio version I'm joined on harmonies with Californian singer-songwriter James Lee Stanley, with whom I toured the UK with Peter Tork.

I premierted this at my first UK Filk Convention in 2000, captured on my 2001 Live! album.

Bobby Casey's
I picked up this hornpipe tune from an album I got out of the library by Irish whistle player & piper Brendan Keenan, produced by Donal Lunny who also guests on the album.

7. Train Of Thought
First recorded on my 2002 My Minds island album but soon became a regular song in my duo sets with Dan Britton who often says it is his favourite song of mine. We recorded it together on 2016's Safe Harbour album.

8. Future Beige
The new song of the set - eventually recorded on my 2011 Time Traveller album. One of my rare "story" songs, I always enjoy playing this one.

From my filk Alien Salad Abduction album of 2002 and has been a regular in my set ever since when it needs a bit of sillyness. :-)

The was the song off the brand new album at the time - 2008's Songs For Dreamers. It was recorded live with band on my 20th Anniverdsary Concert just a few months later and released on Live & Peace & Outer Space a year later.

The Wrong Song
More silly schtick than song, but hey, it still counts as my shortest song. I;d forgotten all about it til I rediscovered this concert recording. :-)

A favourite of my own songs - from 2000's Earth Rising. It was a very big song for me written in difficult times.

Rainbow Real
My regular twin whistle party piece, introduced on my 2001 Live! album and maybe my most photographed piece!. Not played it in a while as a new party piece Wiccan Chicken has taken over with a piece on the low whistle before changing over to the twin whistle trick.

The Alien Jellyfish Song
Premiered at that first UK Filk Convention in 2000, and recorded on that day for the 2001 Live! album - this is where filk/sci-fi songs started for me, and it took me to be Guest Of Honour at filk conventions in the USA, Canada, Germany, and Bromsgrove! 2 grops have covered it, and in Atlanda, they've made a special dance for it.
